Cremation Memorial Sizes

Choosing the Right Size for the Burial Ground

Cremation memorial sizes vary according to the model and the cemetery or churchyard. Our common tablet sizes include the following options, but permitted dimensions must always be checked for the particular plot.

Standard Cremation Tablets
15 × 18 × 2 in or 18 × 18 × 2 in

Compact memorials that can accommodate an inscription and selected decorative details, subject to the chosen model.

Large Cremation Tablets
18 × 24 × 2 in or 24 × 24 × 2 in

Additional space for lettering or personalisation where larger cremation memorials are permitted.

Dimensions above are common tablet specifications, not universal cemetery allowances. Orientation, base size, overall height and permitted materials must be verified for the chosen burial ground.

Cremation Memorial Prices

Clear Guidance on Costs, Without Pressure

Prices depend on the memorial's shape, granite, size, inscription, decorative work and any photographic personalisation. Cemetery permit fees and particular fitting requirements may also affect the final quotation.

For eligible cremation tablets, MMIT full colour imaging is typically £350 for standard sizes and £500 for large sizes. Certain models may already include MMIT, so it should not be charged twice. The first 100 front inscription characters are included under our standard lettering policy, with additional characters priced according to the confirmed quotation.

We will explain the costs before you commit, confirm what is included and check any relevant cemetery fees.

Understanding the Difference

A Memorial Tablet Is Not Necessarily an Ashes Container

A cremation memorial tablet is generally a stone marker or tribute placed at an approved location. It does not automatically contain or store ashes.

If you are looking for an urn, an ashes casket, a memorial that incorporates ashes or a tablet for an existing cremation plot, tell us what you need. We can advise on the memorial products and services we offer and help check burial ground rules.

Always confirm whether a memorial is permitted on your specific cremation plot before ordering.

Helpful Answers for Families

Cremation Memorials: Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cremation memorial?

A cremation memorial is a lasting tribute associated with a cremation burial or remembrance location. It may be a granite tablet, small headstone, heart, book or another approved memorial form.

What is the difference between a cremation tablet and a headstone?

Cremation tablets are often smaller than traditional lawn headstones, although styles and dimensions vary. The permitted design depends on the cemetery or churchyard and the particular plot.

Can I put a photograph on a cremation memorial?

Yes, suitable memorials can feature ceramic portrait plaques or MMIT full colour imagery on appropriate polished granite. We can assess the design and explain available options.

Can cremation memorials include an inscription?

Yes. Names, dates, dedications, verses and meaningful symbols can be included, subject to available space and cemetery requirements.

What sizes are available?

Common standard tablet sizes include 15 × 18 × 2 inches and 18 × 18 × 2 inches. Common large sizes include 18 × 24 × 2 inches and 24 × 24 × 2 inches. Actual availability depends on the model and burial ground rules.

How much does a cremation memorial cost?

The total depends on the memorial model, size, granite, lettering, artwork, installation and cemetery fees. We provide a quotation once the specification and burial ground requirements are understood.

Does a cremation memorial contain ashes?

Not necessarily. Many tablets are simply markers or memorials. If you need an ashes container or an arrangement involving interment, please tell us so we can discuss what is suitable and available.

Do I need cemetery permission?

Many burial grounds require approval and may charge a permit fee. We can help check the relevant rules and guide you through the paperwork.

Can Magic Memorials design and fit the memorial for us?

Yes. You can design it yourself using our free Designer, work with our team or let us prepare the design. We help arrange professional fitting across the UK, subject to location and cemetery requirements.
