We Saw Memorials Differently
Magic Memorials began with one family, one headstone and a simple thought. When Andy's grandmother passed away, the traditional memorials he saw could beautifully record a name, dates and inscription, but they didn't feel enough to capture the person he remembered.
Coming to the memorial industry from the outside meant there were no assumptions about how things had to be done. Instead, we asked a different question.
What if a headstone could tell the story of the person, not just record their name?
It Started With One Memorial
When Andy's grandmother passed away, he experienced the memorial industry for the first time as a customer. The traditional headstones he saw were beautifully made, but he couldn't find anything that felt personal enough to truly represent the woman he remembered.
Coming from outside the memorial industry meant there were no assumptions about how things had to be done. Instead, there was one simple question:
What if a headstone could tell the story of the person, not just record their name?
We Didn't Set Out to Change How Headstones Are Made
We set out to change what a headstone could be.
50 Years of Experience Behind a New Concept
The idea behind Magic Memorials was new, but the expertise behind it wasn't.
Our family brought more than 50 years of experience in specialist glass and ceramic printing, coatings and surface technologies. That knowledge gave us a completely different starting point when we began exploring what could be achieved with memorials.
But technology alone wasn't enough. By bringing that experience together with skilled stonemasonry and professional graphic design, we were able to turn an idea into something completely breathtaking.
Three very different areas of expertise. One shared ambition to create better, more personal memorials.
Different Skills. One Magic Memorials.
Today, Magic Memorials brings together experienced stonemasons, professional graphic designers and decades of specialist knowledge in printing, coatings and surface technologies.
We're a family run business, supported by some exceptional specialist partners who share our belief that families deserve more choice when creating a memorial.
Different people. Different skills. One shared vision.
What Drives Us
-
Make Memorials More Personal
Every person is different. We want families to have the freedom to create a memorial that reflects their personality, passions, memories and the life they lived. -
Bring New Ideas to a Traditional Industry
We respect the traditions and craftsmanship of memorial making, while continuing to explore new possibilities in design, imagery and protection. -
Never Lose Sight of the Person
Technology and design are only tools. What matters is creating something that feels right for the individual and meaningful to the people who remember them.
What makes us different
The Idea Became MMIT
We wanted families to be able to include more than traditional lettering and small photographs. We wanted the memorial itself to become the canvas.
That thinking led to MMIT - Magic Memorial Imaging Technology, our exclusive approach to creating high definition, full colour imagery as part of the memorial itself.
Portraits, passions, hobbies, vehicles, football, favourite places and treasured memories can all become part of the design, allowing us to create memorials around the person rather than simply adding decoration to the stone.
It's what allows a Magic Memorial to tell so much more of their story.
What we do
Stone Masons With Style
Innovation only works when it's built on proper craftsmanship. That's why experienced stonemasonry remains at the heart of every Magic Memorial.
From traditional granite memorials and hand-finished details to our most personalised designs, the same care, precision and respect for the craft applies.
We're not replacing traditional stonemasonry. We're combining it with new ideas to give families more choice.
Innovation
The Headstone Protection System
Our experience in specialist coatings didn't just help us develop new ways to personalise memorials. It also led us to think about how we could better protect them.
The Magic Memorials Headstone Protection System creates an additional barrier designed to help protect suitable lettering, imagery and memorial finishes from weathering and UV exposure.
It's another example of knowledge from outside the traditional memorial industry helping us approach an old problem differently.
It Still Comes Back to One Question
When Andy was choosing his grandmother's memorial, the question was simple: does this really feel like her?
That same question still guides us today.
Whether we're creating a completely traditional headstone or one of our most personalised Magic Memorials, we want the finished memorial to feel right for the person being remembered and for the family choosing it.
Because a memorial should do more than mark where someone rests. It should help tell the story of who they were.
